
Graduation Requirements for local high schools
Illinois School Districts
Alleman Catholic High School: To graduate a
student must have a minimum of 24 credits, of which the following are
required: 4 credits each: Religion, English, 3 credits each: Mathematics,
Science, Social Studies, 1.5 credits: Physical Education, 0.5 credits each:
Computer, Health, Applied Economics, 1 credit chosen from: Music, Art,
Foreign Language, or Vocational Education. The "remainder" of the 24 credits
needed: Electives (Foreign Language strongly recommended for college-bound
students). All students are required to participate in the Christian Service
Program. Seniors are required to pass the Constitution Test which is given
as part of the American Government Course and the Diocesan Religion
Assessment which is given as part of the Religion IV curriculum
Geneseo School District: 7 Semesters of English (8 semesters required for the class of 2008 and 2009); 1 semester speech (starting with the class of 2010); 4 semesters of science; 6 semesters of Mathematics; 4 semesters of Social Studies -- U.S. History (2 semesters), U.S. Government (1 semester), Social Studies elective (1 semester). Both the U.S. and Illinois Constitution tests must be passed in U.S. Government; 1 semester of Vocational Education (Agriculture, Business, Family and Consumer Sciences, Industrial Tech.); 1 semester of health; 7 semesters of Physical education; 1 or 2 semesters of Consumer Education.
Moline School District: To receive a high school diploma, students must complete 21.5 credits as follows: 3 years English, 3 Years Social Studies (1 year must be American History, 1 semester government and proof of passing Constitution test, 1 semester world/geography studies, 1 year of social studies electives), 1 semester Consumer Education, 4 semesters PE/health, 2 years math, 1 year science. Electives can be chosen from Music, Art, Foreign Language, or Vocational Education.
Rock Island School District: 24 units are required to graduate from high school, including: 4 years English, 2 years math, 1 semester science (biology), 1 semester state/local government, 3 years physical education, 1 semester health, 1 semester driver's education, 1 year American history, 1 semester consumer economics, 1 year vocational education, and 9 1/2 elective units.
United Township (East Moline) School District: 23 units are required to graduate from high school, including: 3.5 units English, 3.25 units of Physical Education, 2 units Math, 1 unit World History, U.S. History, Science, 0.5 units Government, Health, Consumer Education, 0.25 units Driver Education. At least nine units of credit are needed in Electives. Of the elective credit units required, at least 1 unit of credit must be earned in one of the following areas: Music, art, foreign language or vocational/career education.
Iowa School Districts
Assumption School District: To graduate a student must have a minimum of 21.5 credits, of which the following are required: 4 credits each: Religion, English, Physical Education, 3 credits each: Social Studies, 2 credits each: Mathematics, Science, 1.5 credits: Physical Education, 0.5 credits each: Computer Science, Health, 1 credit chosen from: Fine Arts. The "remainder" of the 21.5 credits needed: Electives.
Bettendorf School District: Graduation requirements include 26 credits divided as follows: 4 credits Language Arts, 3 credits Social Studies, 2 credits Science, 2 credits Math, .5 credit Health, 2 credits Physical Education, and 12.5 credits Electives. Only 6.5 total music credits, instrumental and vocal, can apply toward the elective credits needed for graduation. Students may apply for an early graduation, which are approved on an individual basis.
Davenport School District: High School graduation requirements include: seven semesters of language arts, four semesters of mathematics, eight semesters of physical education, four semesters of science, six semesters of social studies, and elective courses (art, business education, driver education, foreign language, health, home economics, humanities, industrial arts, music, journalism, drama, public speaking, and vocational education).
North Scott School District: Must
accumulate 54 credits to Graduate.
Must have 26 Specific required credits which are: Health 1, Language Arts 7,
Mathematics 4, Physical Education 4, Science 4, Social Studies 6
