DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY Vacancy Announcement Number: NCNAFDE113110 Opening Date: June 19, 2009 Closing Date: July 31, 2009   First Cut off Date: June 26, 2009 Position: Cook (CYS), NA-7404-04 Salary: $10.51 - $12.27 Hourly Place of Work: Child Care Center, Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL Position Status: Flexible (FLEX.) -- Flexible (NAF) Number of Vacancy: 1 Duties: Serves as a CYS Cook in a CYS program IAW all applicable regulations and standards. Applies knowledge and skill to asisst in planning and implementing a comprehensive food service program that follows the policies and procedures of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Follows standard recipes and separate 4-6 seasonal cycle menus IAW USDA CACFP and Army policies i.e. portion sizes and meal patterns. Performs a full range of simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing, such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers and fresh or canned vegetables. Prepares hot cereals and concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces and gravies. Makes cold sandwich fillings. Prepares food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, flouring or breading. Weighs, measures and assembles ingredients for regular and modified menu items. Mixes ingredients according to written recipes. Operates a variety of kitchen equipment. About the Position: Work involves continual standing and walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending. Must be able to lift or move objects up to 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 40 pounds with assistance. Employee is exposed to steam, fumes, odors from cooking and to extreme temperature changes. Referral lists may be issued after first cut off date. Experience and training that furnish the knowledges, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade. Ability to use and maintain appropriate tools and equipment. Ability to read, understand, and apply instruction and other materials related to the job. Ability to do the work of the position under normal supervision.
