Newcomer's Tour

The Rock Island Arsenal Relocation Program hosts monthly Newcomers Orientations & Tours.  These tours begin in the Arsenal Club (Bldg. 60) with briefings of various RIA programs and services that are available to military and/or civilian personnel.  While on lunch break, participants are encouraged to visit the Leisure Travel Office, the Rock Island Arsenal Museum, and the Arsenal Attic Thrift Shop.  After lunch, the group boards a bus for a historical window tour of the installation that includes Lock & Dam #15, the Clocktower Building, the Colonel Davenport House, and the National and Confederate cemeteries.  The tour group then travels to the Kingsbury Manufacturing Center where a walking tour is given of the facility.  This is an all day event and should be attended only with permission from the Newcomer's command and/or supervisor.  Closed toe shoes are required and comfortable clothing is recommended.
